Volume Boost Chrome Extension

Last updated: July 15, 2025

Overview

Volume Boost is a Chrome extension that amplifies audio on web pages. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices. This privacy policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

Information We Collect

Local Data Storage

Volume Boost stores the following information locally on your device using Chrome's local storage API:

  • Volume Level Settings: Your preferred volume amplification level (0-6400%)
  • Debug Mode Preference: Whether debug logging is enabled (if you choose to enable it)

Audio Stream Access

Volume Boost requires access to audio streams from web pages to provide volume amplification. This access is temporary and only used for real-time audio processing. We do not record, store, or transmit any audio content.

What We Do NOT Collect

Volume Boost does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

  • Personal information (name, email, address, etc.)
  • Browsing history or website URLs
  • Audio recordings or content
  • Usage analytics or telemetry data
  • Device information or system specifications
  • Location data
  • Cookies or tracking data

How We Use Information

The limited information stored locally is used solely for:

  • Functionality: Remembering your volume preferences between browser sessions
  • User Experience: Providing consistent volume amplification based on your settings
  • Debugging: Optional debug logging to help troubleshoot issues (only if you enable it)

Data Storage and Security

Local Storage Only

All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's secure local storage API. No data is transmitted to external servers, cloud services, or third parties.

  • offscreen: Creates an offscreen document for audio processing

  • host_permissions (all URLs): Allows the extension to work on any website

How Permissions Are Used

These permissions are used exclusively for the extension's core functionality of amplifying audio. No data is collected, monitored, or transmitted as a result of these permissions.

Third-Party Services

Volume Boost does not integrate with, connect to, or share data with any third-party services, analytics platforms, or external APIs. The extension operates entirely within your browser without external network connections.
